Why should you buy these patterns?
- I pride myself on my clear, well laid out instructions.
- All of the patterns are thoughtfully arranged to minimise printing.
- All for sale patterns have been professionally edited & test knit to remove errors (find one I’ve missed and I’ll be extremely apologetic and very grateful so I'll send you a coupon as a thank you).
- Most of my patterns require very little sewing.
- The more complex patterns include a variety of instructions to allow you to choose how you would like to knit the toy: challenging with minimal finishing or easy with a bit more sewing?
- The toys are worked from the toes up so 'grow' from the needles, coming to life as you work.
- Toys allow a great opportunity to learn some new techniques, e.g. intarsia in the round, knitting objects together, knitted seams all of which are well explained either in the pattern or through online tutorials.
What skills are required?
The majority of the patterns suit adventurous knitters who would like to learn some new skills although a variety of instructions are included to allow you to choose which techniques to use.
I don't explain every technique and I assume that you already know how to do the following:
I don't explain every technique and I assume that you already know how to do the following:
- Knit in the round.
- Work short rows.
- Use the Turkish cast on (I have a tutorial here), or, use your own cast on and sew up a small hole at the end.
- Increases like Make 1 and Knit front and back.
What unusual techniques are used in the patterns?
- On stripy animals I use Techknitter's jogless stripes method. The pattern tells you what to do so you can learn how to use this technique without having to work out when to slip stitches.
- Knitting items together, i.e. joining the limbs of the toys to the body while knitting the body so as to avoid sewing.
- Intarsia 'in the round' is used in many of my patterns. All patterns using this technique have detailed instructions included so there is no need to purchase the tutorial in addition to the pattern. Alternative instructions are always included which do not use intarsia (but do require more sewing up).
I'm convinced! Where can I buy these awesome patterns?
Great! I sell patterns through the following websites:
